Accountable Climate Action Initiative (ACAI) project
In 2013 – 2015 FORUMCC implemented Accountable Climate Action Initiative (ACAI) project with the purpose to have government, community, and the private sector collaborate, be accountable and act responsibly in relation to climate changes and the environment from local to global levels. The project was achieved to influence behavior change of Farmers and Pastoralists Groups; Women and Youths groups; and 4 Local Government Authorities (Singida Rural, Kiteto Manyara, Njombe, and Wete in Pemba). The implementation of ACAI project enhanced local authorities’ accountability, built the adaption capacity of farmers and pastoralists particularly women Maasai in drylands.
The Forum managed to conduct an extensive analysis of national climate change policies; international negotiations and agreements. Coordinated and pioneered studies on climate finance trucking; Enhanced awareness of stakeholders on climate change issues; vast improvement the in relationship with the government especially VPO-DoE; and massive reach from media and online work; Engaevidenced-basedd based lobbying and advocacy at national and international level - particularly the UNFCCC negotiations; this was done through networking and alliance building at local, national, regional and international levels.
